DeKalb County Schools alerted parent that the system will transition to e-learning today because of power outages and downed trees impacting travel. The schools had planned to operate on a two-hour delay this morning.
Fort Payne City Schools were on a two hour delay, with buses running two and a half hours late.
Early morning reports of power outages and trees down were coming into the DeKalb County Homeland Security Emergency Management Facebook page Tuesday.
The agency asked for reports of damages, power outages, and flooding, and people responded.
Power outages were reported in the following areas, though service might have been restored by now:
County Roads 941 and 618 behind DeSoto State Park
County Roads 1793 and 508 in Fort Payne
County Roads 90 and 27
County Road 485 near Sylvania
County Road 759 and 757, Valley Head
County Road 494
Fort Payne from Walmart to Circle K
County Roads 808 and 155, Flat Rock
County Road 81, north end of DeKalb
Kirk Road in Rainsville (reported restored)
County Road 166
Sherwood Estates, Campbell Street, County Road 578, Dawson Road, Paul Benefield Lane in Fyffe
Valley Head, Hammondville
Longview Road, Henagar
County Road 89 near the turn to DeSoto Falls (DCHSEMA reported trees down in the area)
Brown Chapel Road in Rainsville
Shiloh Ranch Road in Shiloh
Tree down on Houston Loop partially blocking the road
