Crossville’s Kayla Martinez leads state

Crossville’s Kayla Martinez leads state

Story By Heath Hambrick

Crossville freshman goalie, Kayla Martinez, had an outstanding season in 2025, finishing with 255 saves, which led the entire state in all classifications. The 225 saves rank her 17th nationally. This season was her first at the varsity level.

In 21 matches this season, Martinez recorded double-digit saves in 16 of them. Martinez had a season high of 19 saves against Moody.

With three years of varsity action left, it’s safe to say that there is more to come from Martinez and the Crossville Lions.

The Crossville Lady Lions finished the season with a record of 8-11-2 and were runner-up in the DeKalb County Tournament.
