Coach Tidmore to Run Chicago Marathon for Autism Research

Coach Tidmore to Run Chicago Marathon for Autism Research

While everyone is preparing for a weekend of football, Collinsville Varsity Basketball Coach John Tidmore is preparing for the Chicago Marathon.

This will be Coach Tidmore's first marathon, and he isn't doing it just as a personal challenge. Tidmore is running for his family and the Organization for Autism Research (OAR).

My wife has a 1st cousin that lives in Chicago and her husband (Daniel Padilla) has been trying to get me to run in this marathon for years. They have a 17-year old son, Josh, that's autistic and our team (Jogging for Josh) is trying to raise money for OAR.

Coach Tidmore has never ran in a marathon and has suffered a recent setback in his preparation.

I thought I was gonna do well until I strained my calf muscle playing basketball with the kids. I have done three 20 mile runs and averaged about a 4:45:00 pace in preparation. But now with the injury, finishing is my goal and I have 6.5 hours to do it.

You can still donate to Coach Tidmore's cause and find out more about Josh Padilla and team Jogging for Josh by clicking the link:

You can donate from now until the end of the marathon on Sunday.
