Story By Heath Hambrick
Police Chief of Collinsville Andy Brown has informed current Mayor Johnny Traffanstedt and incoming Mayor Jeff “Rat” Chandler that he will be resigning his position as Police Chief of the City of Collinsville.
The decision of resigning was not one Brown took lightly but it was one that he had the best interest for his family and the City of Collinsville.
“While this has not been an easy decision for me to make, it is what I must do for my family, and the City of Collinsville. My girls deserve the best of their father, and for me to be more present. The city deserves a chief that can be 100% all the time. The City of Collinsville has been great to me over the past 3 years, and I am beyond grateful for the friendships I have made during my tenure here. There’s nothing personal for the reason of my resignation. The mayor, city council members, clerks, street department, fire department, and you all as citizens have became like family to me. I love, and appreciate you all, and as always, call me if you need me.” said Brown.
Brown will also continue his career in law enforcement with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.
The Town of Collinsville has already posted the position of Police Chief and is taking applications. Resumes should be sent to the City Clerk at cityclerk@collinsvillealabama.net. Application scan be pick up at the Collinsville City Hall.
