RAINSVILLE, Ala. — To begin the workshop, Tina Wilkes along with Isabella Gulledge, Griffin Turner, Kelly Graham, John Robert Dixon, Colby Buttram, Tammy Wilkes, and David Hanes of the Sylvania Junior Beta Club presented their competition for the board in which they won second place at state competition in Montgomery, and second place at the National Beta Convention in Orlando.
Isabella Gulledge also won second place in state competition for T-shirt design, and Griffin Turner, John Robert Dixon, as well as Tammy Wilkes won second place in the state "Book Battle."
The team had to build a tower out of straws and tape within a certain time frame, with an allotted amount of straws. When complete, the tower must hold a tennis ball up for 60 seconds.
After the work session Anthony Cooper, Chief Financial Officer for DeKalb County Schools, presents 2017 budget data for the school system. The budget hearing will be held on September 7, 2017 at 12 pm.
The next regular meeting of the DeKalb County Board of Education will be held on September 28, 2017, with the workshop beginning at 4 pm and the meeting at 5 pm.
