CHA Welcomes Acclaimed Author

COLLINSVILLE, Ala.--Wayne Flynt, historian, and author of Mockingbird Songs, Afternoons with Harper Lee, will be the guest speaker at Collinsville Historical Association annual meeting on  Sunday, April 16, beginning at 2 pm at the Cricket Theatre in historic downtown Collinsville.

This will an opportunity to hear Dr. Flynt discuss Southern storytelling,  history, and legacies of race,  ethnicity, and family roots in today’s world.  Topics will also include ideas on expanding Conservation and Heritage Trails activities, including in Northeast Illinois and the historic Cherokee areas of Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia. 

Flynt will also address the potential of an annual Red Bud Spring Festival centered in Collinsville, and in Cherokee, DeKalb, Jackson, and Marshall counties.
