FORT PAYNE, Ala. — District Attorney Mike O'Dell has announced the promotion of Summer McWhorter Summerford as Deputy District Attorney and Stanna Guice as Assistant District Attorney.

Summerford has worked within the District Attorney's office since 2018 as an Assistant District Attorney after being in private practice for eight years. She will cover circuit criminal dockets, help with the administration of the Cherokee County office, and will be assigned property and violent crimes in both DeKalb and Cherokee counties.

Guice, who served as Child Support Coordinator, will replace Summerford as Assistant District Attorney. She has served as Child Support Coordinator for five years. Prior to joining the office, she was in private practice. Guice will serve as the child support attorney and also cover traffic and district court in both DeKalb and Cherokee counties.
