The Boaz Parks and Recreation Department is putting on an Underwater Egg Hunt on Friday, March 22, starting at 5:30 p.m. for ages 6-10.

“We’re going to be hiding about 1000 eggs and among those will be some golden eggs. It’s basically what you do at Grandma’s house, going out and looking for eggs, but in the water. Our little eggs do have prizes in them. We’re going to let them find as many as they can,” says Aquatics Director Todd Russell.

Lifeguards will be stationed all around the pool for safety. All ages will be hunting at the same time. Families with children who are younger than 6 but older than 10 are welcome to watch the egg hunt and stay for the showing of the Easter movie “Hop” in the Natatorium. The movie is free of charge to attend, so be sure to bring floats, tubes and inflatable rafts to watch.

Prizes will be given to children with the most eggs, and for those who find the golden egg. Consider bringing a plastic bag or bucket to hold eggs along with towels, goggles and Coast Guard certified life jackets. Concessions will be open and available for anyone staying for the movie.

Space is limited, so you will need to go to the Boaz Rec Center to sign up. The registration fee is $5 per person. The Boaz Rec Center is located at 400 Elizabeth St. in Boaz. If you have any questions about the egg hunt, you can call 256-593-7862 or email Sonja.hard@cityofboaz.org.
