FORT PAYNE, Ala.-- After fourteen long months, the true story of poverty, mental illness, and murder titled With the Devil’s Help by local author Neal Wooten,  will be released on September 6.

Neal Wooten grew up on a pig farm on Sand Mountain, in the Blake Community. He is an alum of Sylvania School where he was an outstanding student in math.  He was the first person in the history of his family to attend college.  Wooten was a graduate of Auburn University with a B.S. in applied mathematics.  He became a math teacher and the director of a math school in Milwaukee, winning numerous math awards.

Wooten has always loved to read.  It was an escape for him as a child.  He did not write his first book until he was in his late thirties. Since then he has written eighteen non-fiction books including the award-winning Reternity.

With the Devil’s Help follows Neal’s life in tandem with his grandfather’s.  The two narratives meet in what is a major revelation.

The book has received stellar reviews from authors and publishing companies alike.  Maurice A. Williams of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer stated the book “takes the reader on an adventuresome journey they won’t see forget.

Wooten is now the managing editor for Mirror Publishing, a contributor for several newspapers including the Huffington Post, the creator of the popular Facebook Comic strip Brad’s Pit, and a stand-up comedian.  He also conducts writing classes for those who aspire to become an author.

A book signing, sponsored by the DeKalb County Public Library will be held during Boom Days on September 17, at the Coal & Iron Building from 9:00 am- 2:00 p.m.
