Driver hits Ambulance Station

HAMMONDVILLE, Ala.  -  On Tuesday, Alabama state troopers responded to the DeKalb Ambulance Station in Hammondville, after one person drove into the building.

Director Cheryl Turner with the Dekalb County Ambulance Services confirmed Melanie Dawn Ervin, 47, of  Fort Payne was driving under the influence and crashed her vehicle into the bay doors of the Hammondville Ambulance Station.

Turner stated there were no injuries involved in the crash.  Erwin drove through the bay doors of the building and hit the rear side of an ambulance parked inside the station.  Turner estimated the cost for repairs to be several thousand dollars. 

Turner also confirmed the driver involved in the crash was arrested.
