BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Plainview Bears fell to the Fultondale Wildcats, 37-6 in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 3A State Playoffs.
The Wildcats struck early, scoring on an 18-yard touchdown with 9:18 remaining in the first quarter. The extra point attempt was good and Fultondale went up 7-0.
With 6:18 remaining in the half, the Wildcats scored again on a 1-yard dart into the endzone. The kick was good, making the score 14-0. With 1:58 remaining in the second quarter, the Wildcats snuck in from 1-yard out. The extra point was good, making the score 21-0. At the end of the first half, the Wildcats tacked on a field goal, to go into the half with the 24-0 advantage.
Plainview scored on a 14-yard stampede into the endzone by Noah White, to make the score 24-6 with 5:52 remaining in the third quarter.
The Wildcats answered back with 10:24 remaining in the fourth on a 16-yard rushing touchdown. The point after attempt was good. With 5:48 remaining on the time clock. Fultondale added their final points on a 12-yard rushing touchdown, making the score 37-6.
Drew Smith led the Plainview Bears with 29 rushing yards and 12 tackles for the night. The Wildcats held the Plainview Bears to 132 total yards for the night.
