FORT PAYNE, Ala. — According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office: On Sunday, November 19th one of DeKalb County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 479 and County Road 1999 in the Kilpatrick area. When the Deputy approached the vehicle he smelt a strong odor coming from the vehicle.
During a search of the passenger Jose Mora Garcia, 25 of Albertville, a glass pipe, small bag of an off-white substance, and a pistol was found on his person. Garcia was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying concealed weapon, and unlawful possession of controlled substance.
After Garcia was transported to DeKalb County Detention Center he was found to have marijuana and meth on his person, which led to Garcia also being charged with promote prison contraband 2nd.
DeKalb County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Edmondson said, “the Deputy did a great job on being observant during this traffic stop and the correction officers in the jail also did a great on being observant when Garcia got to the jail.”
