RAINSVILLE, Ala. — Longtime DeKalb County resident Frank Hiett celebrated his 100th birthday last Friday in Rainsville at the Tom Bevill Center. A large crowd and cake were there to surprise him for his centennial.
During the celebration, Hiett had a surprise of his own, entertaining the crowd by playing his mandolin. DeKalb County Commission President Ricky Harcrow was in attendance. Mayor Nick Jones gave Hiett a silver dollar minted on the year of his birth and Harcrow presented him with a plaque and proclamation.
The Dekalb County Commission officially made August 12, 2016 Frank Hiett Day in Dekalb County in honor of his 100th Birthday. Happy 100th Mr. Hiett, and may you have 100 more!
