Rainsville Council Calls "Special Meeting" Over Lawsuit

The Rainsville City Council called a "special meeting" on Wednesday evening to discuss litigation.

"I want to make it clear that we didn't have to have this meeting...the papers the City were served have been turned over to the insurance company. I talked with the representative from the League (of Municipalities) this morning and she advised that we sit tight and wait on instructions from the attorney  that the insurance company assigns to us."

- Mayor Nick Jones

45 minutes later...

"I make a motion that we turn over all documentation to the insurance company pertaining to this issue."

- Councilman Joey Graham

On a side note, the council members are paid $75 each for every special meeting called (2 max per month). Meaning this meeting ran the tax payers of Rainsville a cool $450.00.
