VALLEY HEAD, Ala. — The Valley Head Tigers defeated the Alabama School for the Deaf, 45-8, in their season opener on Friday night.
The Tigers put on nineteen unanswered points in the first quarter. With 10:24 remaining in the first quarter, Jordan Burt galloped in thirteen yards for the score. The point after attempt by Marlon Trinidad was good, giving the Tigers the 7-0 lead. With 6:49 remaining in the first, Bryson Morgan brought it in from 10 yards. The PAT by Trinidad was blocked, making the score 13-0. With 2:10 remaining in the opening quarter, Burt scores again with a 4-yard gallop into the endzone. The point after attempt failed.
Jordan Burt scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to add to the Valley Head lead. With 6:10 remaining in the first half, Burt brought one in from 7 yards. The PAT failed. With 2:02 remaining in the second quarter, Burt stampeded in from 61 yards. The kick by Trinidad was good, giving the Tigers the 32-0 lead going into the half.
To start the second half off, the Tigers scored on a 6-yard touchdown by Marlon Trinidad. The kick by Trinidad was good, padding the Valley Head lead to 39-0. With 5:24 remaining in the third, Waylon Collins brought one in from 5-yards out. The point after attempt failed, giving the Tigers the 45-0 advantage. With 2:18 remaining in the third quarter, the Silent Warriors scored the final points of the night with a 68-yard run by Cory McKinnoe. The Warriors successfully went for two, making the final score of the game, 45-8.
Jordan Burt led the Valley Head Tigers with 127 yards on eight carries and four touchdowns.
Valley Head (1-0) will travel to take on Decatur Heritage Christian Academy(1-0) in region play on Friday.
