SARDIS CITY, Ala. — The Sylvania Rams tamed the Sardis Lions, 21-12, on Friday night.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Rams scored with 5:25 remaining in the first half on a 70-yard touchdown by Gareth Anderson. The Rams took the 7-0 advantage into the half.
Coming back from the half, the Rams scored on a rushing touchdown to pad their lead to 14-0. Sardis answered back with a touchdown. The extra point failed. At the end of the third quarter, Sylvania lead 14-6.
With 1:37 remaining in the game, Sardis scored. The Rams stopped the two-point conversion, to maintain the 14-12 lead. After a back-and-forth struggle in the fourth quarter, The Rams held Sardis on 4th and goal. Sylvania regained the ball and with :37 left to seal the Lions fate with a touchdown, making the final score 21-12.
Sylvania (1-0) will host Susan Moore Bulldogs (2-0) in region play on Friday night.
