CROSSVILLE, Ala. — Springville defeated the Crossville Lions, 44-14 after a lightning delay halted the game.
Storms were brewing on and off the field at Crossville Memorial Stadium Friday night as the score was 0-0 as the first quarter ended.
With 10:24 remaining in the first half, Springville scored on a field goal, to take the 3-0 lead. Springville scored two touchdowns in the first half. To end the half, the Lions brought one in to make the score 17-7 at the close of the second quarter.
After an extended lightning delay, the Lions resumed play at 9:15. Springville scored three more touchdowns in the third quarter, to make the score 31-7.
In the fourth, Sprinville scored on a long series of play, to give them the 37-7 with 6:00 remaining in the game. With 3:00 remaining in regulation play, Crossville scored their last touchdown of the night, bringing the score to 37-14. With 2:00 remaining in the game, Springville added another touchdown to bring the final score to 44-14.
Crossville will host Boaz this Friday.
