Ider Falls in Overtime

SAND ROCK, Ala. — The Ider Hornets fell to the Sand Rock Wildcats, 20-14 in an overtime battle.

After a Hornet fumble, Ider recovered and run it back to put the first points on the board, with a 35-yard touchdown run by Matthew Wood. The kick by Benjamin Klausen was good, giving the Hornets the 7-0 lead.  With 8:53 remaining in the first, Sand Rock answered back with a  touchdown run by Ian Clanton . The point after attempt failed, making the score 7-6.  

With 10:53 left in the first half, Sand Rock scored another touchdown by Clanton.  Clanton successfully went for two, and going into the half, the Wildcats had  the 14-7 advantage.

Ider tied the game with 8:21 remaining in the fourth with a 2-yard dash, into the endzone by Wood.  Both teams battled to score again in the fourth but time ran out in regulation play.  

In overtime, Ian Clanton of Sand Rock scored his third touchdown of the night to give Sand Rock the 20-14 victory over Ider.

Wood led the Ider Hornets with 85 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns.

Ider will host the Section Lions on Friday night.
