Fyffe vs Walter Wellborn GOTW Preview

Expect a playoff atmosphere tomorrow night as the Fyffe Red Devils host the Walter Wellborn Panthers. Last season the game was fast and furious from the outset as Fyffe blocked a punt that was scooped by Austin Stiefel and taken to the house to put the Red Devils on the board first.

The lead didn't last long as Walter Wellborn marched the field and answered immediately.

Trent Thrash ran like a man possessed and finished with 100+ yards and 2 TD's. The final score wasn't as close as the actual game due to a late Thrash TD plunge, and the Red Devils held on to win 33-19.

This year look for more of the same as both teams were ranked in the preseason top 10. Walter Wellborn (2-2) has suffered losses as the hands of 2 power house teams that are undefeated, so don't let the record fool you. The Panthers run a similar style of offense as the Red Devils as both teams will look to pound the football the entire game. Last season there was only 4 completed passes combined in this matchup.

Thrash looks to spearhead the attack once more, and Levi Bates will be 100% after dealing with a hip flexor over the last few weeks. Austin Stiefel, who played a huge role in the blowout against Ider last week, will also play a vital role in trying to wear down this Walter Wellborn defense.

Ryan Martin is still nursing an injury and is listed as QUESTIONABLE for Friday night.

This may be a postseason preview as both these teams are extremely capable of a deep playoff run this November and could very well lock horns again.

GAME PLAN: The healthy, 3 headed monster that is the Fyffe Red Devils backfield (Thrash/Bates/Stiefel) will be too much for the Walter Wellborn Panthers to handle in a hostile Long-Ridgeway Stadium.
