Devils Scald the Panthers

FYFFE, Ala.-- The Class 2A, No.1 ranked, Fyffe Red Devils defeated the No. 6 ranked Collinsville Panthers, 24-3 on Friday night. 

With 6:10 remaining in the first quarter, Ike Rowell stampeded his way into the endzone from 45-yards out.  The kick by Brody Dalton was good, giving the Red Devils the early 7-0 advantage.  

The Fyffe Red Devils fumbled on first-and-goal with 3:04 remaining in the second quarter.  Jason Perez made the recovery. The Panthers settled with a field goal with :26 remaining in the first half, making the score 7-6.

In the third, Fyffe added three points to their lead with a 20-yard field goal by Brody Dalton.

With 9:45 remaining in the fourth, Rowell scurried in from 1-yard out for the Red Devil score. The point after attempt failed.  Three minutes later, Quarterback Zach Pryon connected with a 34-yard pass to William Gillian for their final touchdown on the night, making the final score 24-3.  

Collinsville Kaleb Jones had 16 rushes for 56 yards.  Malachi Orr had 3 receptions for 72 yards and 6 rushes for 16 yards.  Jason Perez stopped a Fyffe drive on the 3 with a fumble recovery.  

Fyffe was led by Ike Rowell with 22 rushes for 163 yards and two touchdowns.

“Collinsville is a great team.  In fact, those were two really good football teams” said Fyffe Head Football Coach, Paul Benefield. 

On Friday, Fyffe will travel to take on Asbury.  Collinsville will host Ider.
