Coach Dale Pruitt will hold a team meeting today at 1:00 PM to inform his players that he will be leaving Plainview to be the next head coach at Albertville High School pending Board approval on Thursday at 6:00 PM.
Pruitt has led the Bears in two tenures to 214 wins and 2 State Championship appearances, and is firmly implanted on the Mount Rushmore of DeKalb County coaches.
Resume:
- 264 Career Wins
- 22 Playoff Appearances
- 13 Region Championships
- 109 Region Wins (Best of All Time)
- 4 Undefeated Regular Seasons
- 104 Wins in the 90's
- 2 State Championship Appearances
The local rumor mill would always speculate that Pruitt might retire after the 2015 class, that included grandson Quarterback Jayse Pruitt, graduated. However, this move signals that the Hall of Famer still has plenty left in the tank.
Pruitt will look to turn the potential of the 6A Albertville Aggies (5-5) football program into a state title contender. Conventional wisdom is that the Aggies have underachieved for some time now, given the talent and facilities they have at their disposal.
It's unknown which coaches Pruitt will take with him to Albertville, but Offensive Coordinator Luke Pruitt is thought to be on that list making it all but a certainty that the Bears staff will have a complete overhaul.
Speculation runs wild now as to who will replace the Legend on the Plainview sidelines as the school now finds itself without a football coach or a principal.
