18-Wheeler rips down Power Poles in Collinsville

COLLINSVILLE, Ala. — Earlier, an 18-wheeler traveling on Highway 11 through Collinsville tore down several power poles and lines near the nursing home. According to the Sand Mountain Electric Cooperative (SMEC), the incident caused an outage throughout Collinsville up into Portersville.

Power was recently restored to most of the effected area. The trucker reportedly kept driving after the accident, and was caught by the Fort Payne Police Department shortly after.

Fort Payne officers then escorted the driver back to Collinsville, where, according to the Collinsville Police Department, he received a citation from the for leaving the scene of an accident.
