Devils Scorch the Rams

SYLVANIA, Ala. — The Fyffe Red Devils defeated the Sylvania Rams 41-14 on Friday to finish the regular season undefeated.

The Red Devils struck early scoring on a 2-yard scamper into the endzone by Payton Anderson, with 8:20 remaining in the first quarter.  The extra point attempt failed, giving the Red Devils the 6-0 lead.   Zach Pyron shuffled in for the Red Devils from the 7-yard line.  The 2-point conversion by Anderson, made the score 14-0.

Fyffe broadened their lead to 21-0 with a 3-yard run by Anderson, with 10:31 remaining in the second quarter. With 56.2 seconds remaining in the second quarter, Pyron once again charged into the endzone from 4-yards out, to give the Red Devils the 28-0 lead going into the half.

The third quarter saw the teamwork of Pyron and Anderson increase the Red Devil lead to 41-0. Pyron scored on a 1-yard scamper into the endzone.  Anderson followed with a 24-yard hustle down the field.

With 10:04 remaining in the game, Levi Anderson scored for the Rams on a 12-yard touchdown.  The Rams tacked another touchdown on the board, with a 2-yard scamper into the endzone by Gareth Anderson, to make the final score 41-14.

Payton Anderson finished the night with 123 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries.  Nathan King led the Rams with 99 yards rushing.

Fyffe (10-0) will host Cleveland (5-5) on Friday night for the opening round of Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) State Playoffs.
