Commission Moves to Pave Kilpatrick

DeKALB COUNTY, Ala. — At this week’s meeting of the DeKalb County Commission, it was announced that the Kilpatrick community would see some updates to their roads.

Lucas Blankenship of Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments (TARCOG) presented the Commission with a CDBG grant resolution for road paving in the amount of $350,000 with the Commission matching $115,000 for paving in Kilpatrick.

The roads included in the paving are County Roads 69, 113, 179, 370, 374, 467, and 479. 

“This area is in dire need of some assistance, so thank you to everybody that was a part of this,” said Commissioner Scot Westbrook, whose district includes the Kilpatrick community. 

In other business, the Commission:

  • Accepted a bid from Southeastern Road Treatment for liquid calcium chlorine
  • Passed a resolution to resurface CR116
  • Accepted the resignations of Zach Davis and Mike Traylor at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office
  • Hired Riley Shrader and Jonathan Whitmire at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office
  • Recognized Michael Posey of the DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) for his many certifications and accolades, as well as his service to the County

The next meeting of the DeKalb County Commission will be held on Tuesday, July 23 at 10am in the DeKalb County Activities Building.
