RAINSVILLE, Ala. — According to Rainsville Police Chief Kevin Smith: On 3 May 2018 I received complaints that a new phone scam was occurring in the Rainsville area. The victims have received phone calls from a person claiming to be with the Jackson County Sheriff’s office.

The caller would then tell the victim that they had a warrant for their arrest for missing jury duty. The caller would then instruct the victim to wire money to them to take care of the warrant without arrest.

This is not legal and should be reported to any law enforcement.

Thank you and have a blessed day.
