Two in Leesburg accused of Exploiting an Elderly Person

CENTRE, Ala. — According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office: Cherokee County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested two individuals as the result of an elderly exploitation investigation. According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the suspects, Thomas E. Johns, 53, and James M. Johns, 58, were taken into custody on Wednesday on County Road 71 near Leesburg.

The arrests came after a joint investigation with DHR involving the financial exploitation of an elderly person. Both were booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on the charge of exploitation of an elderly person and drug charges.

James Johns was additionally charged with resisting arrest.
