VALLEY HEAD, Ala. — Tomorrow (Saturday, June 3) the Town of Valley Head is hosting it's first annual "Memories of Mayberry" festival, and the town has redecorated to represent the iconic, but fictional southern small town of Mayberry from the classic TV show, "The Andy Griffith Show!"

Various locations across town are temporarily renaming their businesses to represent those of Mayberry! Valley Head Town Hall will be known for the day as the Mayberry Court House, the Coffee Shack by the Track will be Aunt Bee's Kitchen, Citizen's Bank will be the Mayberry Security Bank, the Tiger Inn will be the Blue Bird Diner, and Poppie's Pizza will be Walley's Fillin Station!

The event will be tomorrow (Saturday, June 3) from 9 am to 5 pm, and admission is free! There will be a ton of food to choose from, including all the local businesses in the downtown "Mayberry" area. Area organizations will also be selling food. The DeSoto Rescue Squad will be selling Cotton Candy, the Ider Rescue Squad will have ice cream, and the Valley Head Fire Department will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers; all as fundraisers. Lamar Hackworth will also be selling his elephant ears and pies.

"Memories of Mayberry," will also feature a good selection of live music; featuring acts such as Willie Underwood, Jack Martin and Friends, Wilma and the Girls, and Lisa Crow and Fiddlers! There will also be stage performances by a, "Floyd the Barber" reenactor and "Barney" will also make an appearance.

The town will also host a "Cruise-In" with cars from the period of the classic television show (1960 - 1968). A Life Flight helicopter will also land near the event to let festival goers see what one looks like on the inside! There will also be activities for the kids! There will be a sack race, and other activities from the period of "Mayberry." Kids will also have inflatables on site to play in! The event will also feature a Watermelon Seed Spitting contest.
