Geraldine Falls to Ohatchee in Playoffs

OHATCHEE, Ala.-- The Ohatchee Indians defeated the Geraldine Bulldogs, 34-13, in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association State Playoffs (AHSAA) on Friday night. 

The Geraldine Bulldogs put the first points on the board with a 44-yard strike from Jaxon Colvin to Colton Lusher. The extra point was good to give the Bulldogs the 7-0 advantage, with 9:44 remaining in the first. Ohatchee scored on a quarterback keeper after driving down the field for over six minutes. The extra point was good to tie the score, 7-7, with 3:27 remaining in the first. 

Caleb Hall scored for the Bulldogs on a 4-yard run. The extra point attempt failed but gave the Bulldogs the 14-7 lead, with 9:36 remaining in the first half. The Geraldine Bulldogs carried the 14-7 advantage into the half. 

Ohatchee scored on their opening drive of the second half but missed the point after attempting to tie the score, 13-13, with 8:20 remaining in the third quarter. 

In the fourth quarter, Ohatcee scored on a QB keeper to go up 21-13. With 7:33 remaining in the game, Ohatchee scored on another QB keeper. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful but gave Otachee the 27-13 advantage. The quarterback for Ohatchee, who scored every point of the game except extra points, brought in the final touchdown of the night to make the final score, 34-13. 

Geraldine finished out their season under the leadership of Coach Michael Davis, with a 7-4 overall record.
