Fyffe Advances to Second Round of Playoffs

FYFFE, Ala.-- The Fyffe Red Devils shut out the Walter Wellborn Panthers, 34-0, in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) State Playoffs on Friday night. 

Brodie Hicks walked into the endzone from 1-yard out for the Red Devil touchdown, with 5:16 remaining in the first quarter. The extra-point attempt was unsuccessful. With 1:11 remaining in the first, Logan Anderson sailed in from 4-yards out and then successfully brought in the two-point conversion, to give the Red Devils the 14-0 advantage at the end of one. 

Kyle Dukes stampeded in from 4-yards out, with 4:56 remaining in the second. Anderson brought in the extra two points. Fyffe went into the half with the 21-0 advantage over the Panthers. 

With 5:23 remaining in the third quarter, Dukes scored again from 1-yard out. The extra point attempt failed but gave the Red Devils the 28-0 lead. 

With 11:49 remaining in the game, Will Stephens snuck in from 1-yard out. The extra point failed but gave the Red Devils the 34-0 win over the Panthers. 

The Fyffe Red Devils (8-1) will meet J.B. Pennington (9-3) for their sixth meeting in Blountsville for the Second Round of the AHSAA State Playoffs on Friday night.
