Bulldogs Defeat the Red Devils

GERALDINE, Ala.-- The Geraldine Bulldogs defeated the Fyffe Red Devils, 20-19 on Friday night.

The Geraldine Bulldogs were forced to punt on their first series. The Fyffe Red Devils scored on their opening drive, as Kyle Dukes went up the middle for the 40-yard touchdown. The PAT was good, giving the Red Devils the 7-0 advantage with 9:08 remaining in the first quarter.   

The second half was a battle between the two teams. Geraldine stopped Fyffe on a 4th and goal. The Bulldogs took over with 3:44 remaining in the half. Jaxon Colvin faded to the corner of the endzone for the Colton Lusher touchdown, with 0:25 seconds remaining in the first half, to tie the game 7-7. 

On the opening drive of the second half, Fyffe scored as Kyle Dukes stampeded into the endzone. The point-after attempt failed but gave Fyffe the 13-7 lead with 9:14 remaining in the third. With 2:47 remaining in the third, Caleb Hall crashed into the endzone. The PAT was good, to give the Geraldine Bulldogs the 14-13 lead over the Red Devils. 

The Red Devils started the fourth quarter with another Duke touchdown. Fyffe went for two but was stopped, making the score 19-14 with 11:53 remaining in regulation play. Jaxon Colvin connected with Colton Lusher for a 35-yard touchdown pass. The Bulldogs went for two but were stopped by the Red Devils with 6:55 remaining in the game to go up 20-19. With 1:17 remaining in the game, Colton Lusher intercepted the ball. The Bulldogs ran the clock out to win the game, 20-19. 

Geraldine reported that Jaxon Colvin finished the night for the Bulldogs going 8-for-13 passing and 238 yards. Colton Lusher had five catches for 197 yards and two touchdowns. 

Fyffe reported that Logan Anderson had 132 yards on 13 carries and Kyle Dukes finished the night for the Red Devils with 113 yards on 22 carries and 3 touchdowns. 

Geraldine will travel to take on Collinsville this week. Fyffe will also travel to take on Asbury.
