Bears Maul the Panthers

COLLINSVILLE, Ala. — The Plainview Bears defeated the Collinsville Panthers, 29-13 in Region play on Friday night.

This game was a game between two running teams. Plainview completed the one pass it attempted for only 5-yards. The only pass in the second half by either team was incomplete. 

The Bears struck first with a 3-yard rushing touchdown by Marcos Vega with 8:24 remaining in the first quarter. Brody McCurdy brought in the two-point conversion to give the Bears the early 8-0 lead.

The second quarter saw Plainview lose two fumbles and Collinsville give up an interception.  With 10:13 remaining in the second quarter, Noah White connected with Vega for the 4-yard  Bear touchdown reception.  WIth 7:27 remaining in the first half, Malachi Orr came crashing in, for the Panthers, from 3-yards out.  The extra point attempt by Jan Segura made the score 14-7.  Levi Brown scored for the Bears, on a 90-yard kickoff return. Vega brought in the two-point conversion to take the 22-7 lead. Keaton Deboard connected with Dalton Hughes, with a 23-yard pass for the Collinsville touchdown. The two-point conversion failed to make the score Plainview 22, Collinsville 13 going into the half.  

In the second half, each team had the ball twice. Collinsville’s opening drive stalled near midfield. Plainview went 98 yards on 11 plays to score a touchdown by Brody McCurdy with 2:49 remaining in the third quarter. The kick by Jacob Yates made the final score of the night, 29-13.  

Plainview had 292 total for the night. Marcos Vega led the Bears with 100 yards on 14 attempts.  Brody McCurdy had 86 yards on 10 attempts. Noah White finished the night with 79 yards on 9 attempts.  

This week, Plainview will travel to take on the Sylvania Rams. Collinsville will host the Asbury Rams.
