Bears Claw the Lions

RAINSVILLE, Ala. — The Plainview Bears defeated the Crossville Lions, 34-20 on Friday night. 

On the first play of the game, Jathan Underwood galloped down the field for the 83-yard touchdown,  to take the 6-0 lead with 11:57 remaining in the first quarter. With 1:54 remaining in the first, Brody McCurdy rumbled in for 2-yards out. Marcos Vega brought it in from 3-yards out for the two-point conversion to take the 14-0 lead over the Crossville Lions.  

The Bears scored with 5:53 remaining in the third on a 53-yard pass connection from Noah White to Levi Brown. The kick by Jacob Yates gave the Bears the 21-0 advantage. With 2:00 remaining in the first half, Hunter Haston scored on a 13-yard rushing touchdown for the Crossville Lions. The Lions unsuccessfully went for two, making the score 21-6. With only :40 remaining before intermission, Plainview cashed in on a 1-yard scamper into the endzone by McCurdy.  The PAT was no good but gave the Bears the 27-6 lead going into the half. 

With 8:52 remaining in the third quarter, Underwood scored on a 41-yard rushing touchdown.  The extra point attempt by Jacob Yates gave the Bears the 34-6 advantage.  

The Crossville Lions scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. At the start of the fourth quarter, Dakota Causey scored for Crossville on an 11-yard rushing touchdown. The extra point attempt by Rodolfo Balcazar was good. With 6:31 remaining in the game, Andy Bolding scored on a 71-yard rushing touchdown for the Lions. The extra point by Balcazar made the final score of the game, 34-20. 

Plainview will host the Fyffe Red Devils in regional play on Friday. Crossville will host West Point for their Homecoming game.
