HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The bridge over Dry Creek on U.S. Highway 11 is re-opened for through traffic, according to a new statement from the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT).

The bridge, which is located between Hammondville and Sulphur Springs in DeKalb County, formally reopened on Wednesday, April 28. The highway was closed to through traffic for the last year while the bridge was being replaced. The new bridge is approximately 60 feet longer and 20 feet wider than the original, which was constructed in 1928.

The Bridge Builders of Alabama was the contract on the $2.6M project.
