Rainsville Adopts New City Street

RAINSVILLE, ALA..-- (Full Video on Southern Torch Facebook) The Rainsville City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, May 1. 

The Council suspended the rules for immediate consideration and passed Ordinance 05-01-2023 which accepted Calvin Street in the Wells Estate Subdivision, as a Rainsville City Street. 

The Council passed  the following Resolutions:

  • Resolution 05-01-2023 (A)  which pertains to the Hazard Mitigation Adoption.
  • Resolution 05-01-2023 (B) which awarded the bid on a 2006 Dodge Truck to Councilmember Bejan Taheri, in the amount of $905.00.
  • Resolution 05-01-2023 ( C) which authorized City Officials to execute Financial Documents. 

Mayor Rodger Lingerfelt presented the Council members with the 2021-2022 Audit.  Mayor Lingerfelt advised that the audit was available online on the City of Rainsville webpage.

In other business, the Rainsville City Council:

  • Hired Matthew Wise at the Maintenance/Mowing/Shop—Effective 4-26-2023 at a pay rate of $15.13
  • Accepted Doug Combs Resignation/CDL Driver—Public Works Dept Effective 5-01-2023
  • Posted Court Clerk Position for (7) Days
  • Amended Pay Scale
  • Hired (5) New Pool Life Guards—Jasper Ferguson, Drake Linville, Callie Noojin, Halle Roberts, Cooper Cox $10.00 per hour

The next Rainsville Council Meeting will be held on May 15, beginning with a work session at 4 p.m. and a regular session at 4:30 p.m.
