FORT PAYNE, Ala. — According to Fort Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum: At approximately 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, a 2014 International Tractor with a box trailer ran into the wall at the intersection of 5th Street NE and Wallace Ave. NE, also known as Joe's Truck Stop.

The truck was being driven by Rodney Chandler, 54 of Snellville, Ga., who was not injured in the crash.

Chandler stated he stopped at the brake stop at the top of the mountain but lost his brakes on his trailer as he was coming down the mountain towards Fort Payne.

The truck and trailer sustained severe damage along with the rock wall belonging to James Donald Faulkner.

The road was closed for several hours while 24/7 Wrecker Service off-loaded the trailer and removed the wreckage from the scene.
