RAINSVILLE, AL - On January 25, Kelly Kevin Wachs of Calera, AL was arrested after a grand jury indictment for the charge of Sexual Abuse 1st Degree and Interference with Custody.

The investigation, conducted by the Rainsville Police Department, started in April of 2020 after a concerned parent reported a possible problem between her juvenile daughter and Wachs.

Mr. Wachs was arrested and later released on a $57,500 bond.

On May 2, Wachs pleaded guilty to the charges of harassment as a lesser included offense and interference with custody.

The plea deal, offered by the District Attorney’s office, granted Wachs 48 months of probation with an 8 year suspended prison sentence. This case began as a sex crime case and with the guilty plea of harassment, Wachs will not be required to register as a sex offender. When contacted for comment on the case, the District Attorney’s office offered no comment.
