Janie Hale is an inspiration to many people due to her weight loss, motivational attitude, and opening a yoga studio in Fort Payne. Soul Shine Yoga & Wellness Studio is located 201 35th St. NE Fort Payne. The business officially opened on May 26.

The benefits of yoga include; Improving strength, balance, and flexibility. Slow movements and deep breathing increase blood flow and warm up muscles while holding a pose can build strength. Regular yoga therapy induces relaxation of the blood vessels, reduces blood pressure, and increases blood flow to the heart muscle. It is also advertised to boost metabolism due to building up muscle strength and encourages synovial fluid to hydrate the spine.

“Our classes are aimed at relaxation and reconnection with ourselves,” said Hale. “This can be especially important after a long day at work,” Janie said her classes are aimed at releasing tension from the mind and body and focusing on breathing, stretching, and are directed at calming both the mind and body. While Janie’s Soul Shine yoga offers meditation during yoga postures, she does not implement any Hindu or Buddhist spirituality. While yoga has its roots in religion it is not in itself a religion and is better understood as a spiritual practice.

Classes include; Sweet Soul Flow, Here Comes the Sun Flow, Unwind the MindFlow, Praise Flow, Restore the Soul Flow, Let’s Go Crazy!, Myofascial Release & Restorative, and Yoga on the Brow. Class levels are rated at Level 1 – Beginner, Level 2 – Experienced Beginner, Level 3 – Intermediate, Level Ahhhhhh – Lowest Intensity, and Yummlicious Flo for everyone.

Sweet Flow is Level 1 and is best for newbies, it introduces the fundamentals and is good for those working through injuries with gentler movements.
