The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its 30th annual national food drive on Saturday, May 14.  Letter carriers in 10,000 communities nationwide will join forces to help fight hunger.

The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the country’s largest single-day food drive, provides residents with an easy way to donate food to those in need in the community.

Over 1.8 billion pounds of food have been collected in twenty-nine years but communities are still in need across the country.

The NALC has partnered with the United States Post Office, AFL-CIO, Kelloggs,  Valpak, CVS Health, United Way, VeriCast, and their premiere partner UFCW to make this event a success.

While all non-perishable foods are welcome,  foods that are high in protein such as canned tuna, salmon, beans and peanut butter are in high demand.

Items that are not accepted include rusty or unlabeled cans, glass containers, perishable items, homemade items, expired items, alcoholic beverages, mixes or soda, and open or used items.

To participate, simply place your bag next to your mailbox on May 14. Your donations will be distributed to food banks and pantries in your community.
