Rainsville, Ala.-- The City of Rainsville will be adding six new names to the First Responder’s Memorial that is located in the Rainsville City Park on Sunday, May 15, beginning at 3:00 p.m. This will event will pay tribute to First Responder’s who have passed in the last year.

The memorial dedicated in 2019, was to recognize the first responders who often were overlooked, according to organizer Kayron Guffey.

“I used to be a first responder years ago and it’s a thankless job, and these guys do great and I wanted to do something to honor them,” stated Guffey.

The memorial boasts three flags, landscaping, and a granite monument in the middle. It honors responders across the board from police, fire, EMS, and dispatch.

Funded through donations from local businesses, the city, and the legislative delegation, the memorial is a community effort.
