Music in the Park This Weekend

The Geraldine Town Council met on Monday, May 9. The Council heard from Craig White, candidate for Sheriff of DeKalb County. Minutes from previous meetings were approved. Mayor Ables talked about “Music in the Geraldine Park” which is a free event on Saturday, May 14, at 4:00 PM. Food will be available for purchase and there will be drawings throughout the event for prizes. It will feature Point of Honor, and also includes Ricky Luster, Sr., and Bro. Billy Bob Bohannon (aka known as Bill King from Rainsville). There will also be a Picnic in the Park on Saturday, June 11 beginning at 3:00 PM, and it is a free event also. The council voted to ask Councilmember Stanley Rooks to secure someone to provide sound equipment for the event. That event will feature Leah Seawright and includes The Bridge Church Praise Band and Backwoods Revival. Food trucks and vendors are welcome. June 18 has been designated Community Yard Sale Day in Geraldine. Kristina Moses was hired to oversee the Farmer’s Market this year which is open on Wednesday and Saturday at the Town Park located at 13099 County Road 52. The Council discussed some possible updates to the Zoning Ordinance, but no action was taken. More information about events can be found at townofgeraldineal.com and on the Town Facebook page.
