Merry Christmas from DeKalb County

Merry Christmas from DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala.-- Last week, DeKalb County Commission, President Ricky Harcrow, held a press conference to unveil operations to support families through a toy drive for families impacted by the tornadoes in the State of Kentucky.

“So many have lost everything including lives in just a matter of seconds, and I was reminded of our own experience in 2011,” stated DeKalb County Commission President, Ricky Harcrow.

“As the Christmas holidays approach, there is no doubt there are people who have not only lost their livelihood but also Christmas gifts that were acquired during the last few months,” concluded Harcrow.

In an exclusive interview with Southern Torch and the 98-3 Wild Country Morning Show, Harcrow stated that he was amazed at the outpouring of love and support that the citizens and businesses in the area had shown.

Harcrow stated that every municipality in DeKalb County had participated in the toy drive and was eager to help as those had helped us in our time of need in 2011.

On Wednesday morning, Harcrow and members of the DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) left, pulling three trailers stuffed with bicycles, baby dolls, fire trucks, and race cars ready for distribution to those in need in Kentucky.

Harcrow stated in last week’s press conference, “Let us not forget that giving is also loving.” The businesses and citizens in the area proved that to be true.
