FORT PAYNE, Ala.-- The Fort Payne City Council held a Special Session on Tuesday, June 28.

The purpose of the special called meeting was to hear a progress update from architect Craig Peavey, from the firm Tinker Ma, regarding the scope of the renovations.

A design development plan was presented for review which will be completed after all demolition is complete. Fort Payne Police Chief David Davis stated that plans were to utilize everything that they could from the present structure and to be complaint as they possibly could be.

The station will have a full lobby, administrative offices, and a conference room which could serve as a emergency operations center on the first floor.

The second will floor will have offices and a training area.

The basement will have a restroom complete with changing area and storage.

The final plan should be presented by the end of July for the review of the Council.  Bids should be sent out by October for different stages of the project.
