DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. — The DeKalb Ambulance Service has named their Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) of the year.

Mr. B.J. Hayes was chosen by his fellow employees as the best EMT of 2018. Mr. Hayes has been an employee of the DeKalb Ambulance Service (DAS) since August 2015. 

He is pictured above with DAS Director Cheryl Turner and DAS Deputy Director Mark Haygood who presented Hayes with the award this week. 

“B.J. has been with DAS since 2015. His constant striving for excellence in all he does along with his outstanding dedication to public service makes him an invaluable asset to DAS as well as to the citizens of DeKalb County,” said Director Turner. “We consider ourselves blessed to have B.J. as part of the DAS family.”

Hayes’ name was also submitted and chosen for the VFW’s EMT of the Year award, which consisted of a plaque and monetary award.
