Alan Chambers, the American Legion District 13 Commander met with the Collinsville Mayor and Town Council on Monday, February 7th, 2022 to propose a new American Legion Post.

American Legion is looking for a few good men or women in Collinsville, AL.

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.  We are a 501c3-19 non-profit service organization of US military veterans.  Any veteran who has served one day of active duty is eligible…such as the Alabama National and Air Guard.  

There are over 13,000 Legionaries in 156 posts in Alabama… almost every city or town has a least one Post.  The closest Posts to Collinsville are the ones in Fort Payne, Mentone, and Valley Head.
