Steel Plus Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

IDER, Ala. — Steel Plus in Ider has reported that an employee has tested positive for COVID-19.

General Manager Jim Hicks released the following statement:

We were notified, Wednesday (6-10-2020), that the spouse of one of our employees had tested positive for COVID 19. The employee was immediately sent home to be tested and self quarantine. We were notified, Thursday (6-11-2020), that the employee tested positive for COVID-19. Due to this, we have implemented a check protocol to monitor body temperature upon entering the building. Also, as a precautionary measure, we are shutting down production Saturday (6-13-2020) and Sunday (6-14-2020) to have our complex professionally disinfected. We have reminded our employees the importance of proper hygiene and the need to practice adequate social distancing. Additionally, we’ve encouraged each employee to seek out testing if they feel they have been exposed to the virus. We continue to be committed to providing a healthy and safe work environment. We plan to be back up to full production Monday (6-15-2020).
