FORT PAYNE, Ala. — While it was speculated earlier that a homicide last Friday might have been self-defense, we can confirm that the District Attorney’s office is investigating the incident. A man was found deceased last Friday on County Road 232, between Fort Payne and Collinsville, on Lookout Mountain, after a domestic situation was reported.

“This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information will be available until the conclusion,” said a spokesperson for the Ninth Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

Alberto Pablo Felipe, 36 of Fort Payne, was discovered face-down in the roadway last Friday, after multiple calls were made from residents of the area about a male being face down, and bleeding in the road way, apparently stabbed. Felipe would succumb to his wounds. Information will be limited until the conclusion of the investigation, but the incident is currently being investigated aggresively as a crime.

It’s also been reported earlier this week by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office that the unnamed female who allegedly stabbed Felipe, called emergency dispatch and reported being attacked. Eyewitnesses allege, however, that law enforcement was notified by a passerby who saw Felipe bleeding, lying in the roadway, opening up the possibility that the “victim,” may have reported being attacked by Felipe, after Felipe had already been stabbed. The female’s name is being withheld until the investigation is concluded.

This a complicated matter, but after talking to those conducting the investigation, we can say for sure that investigators are working hard and committed to getting to the truth in this matter. Once it’s concluded, we’ll be able to share the full story.

Check our page for updates in the coming week on this incident.
