RAINSVILLE, Ala. — (Full Videos Below)The Rainsville City Council held their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, July 2, 2018.

Chuck Chitwood addressed the Council regarding the Chavies Bridge project and the recent bid opening where Miller & Miller presented a bid for $1,804,468.00. Chitwood advised that the total cost would be $2,210,004.16 after cost for bridge inspection.

The Council empowered the Mayor to sign all necessary paperwork with the state of Alabama for the Chavies Bridge project. This will be an 80-20 grant.

Mayor Lingerfelt reported to the Council that the George Wallace project had suffered a setback due to an injury of the owner of Boozer Construction and that the City had searched for someone to take over the project. After a recommendation by engineer Sam Phillips, James E. Watts & Son Contractors, who are ALDOT certified for concrete, were awarded the bid. The bid was under $50,000 so it did not require the Council to rebid.

Resolution 7-2-2018 was approved by the Council for a driver's license and safety checkpoint for the City of Rainsville.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held July 16, 2018 with workshop beginning at 4:15pm and regular session at 5pm.
