Fort Payne Begins Sewer Project

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — The Fort Payne City Council held their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, December 3. 

The Council suspended the rules and adopted Ordinance 2019-05, authorizing issuance of a General Obligation Warrant in the amount of $8.3 million for a SRF Logan for the sewer project at Terrapin Hills/49th Street. 

The Council passed Resolution 2019-44, accepting the low bid for a a public works skid steer mulcher from Skid Pro Attachments in the amount of $23,832. 

The Council approved reappointments for Brad Scott and Wally Smith on the Fort Payne Improvement Authority Board. Both have served two terms for a total of six years.

Fort Payne Parks and Recreation Director Robin Brothers announced that the City of Fort Payne had been selected as one of five departments across the nation to be on the Rural Learning Club.

Christmas in the Park will be held on Friday, December 6 beginning at 4:45 for a tree lighting ceremony, followed by a movie at the DeKalb Theatre, visits with Santa, refreshments, Candy Cane Lane, and caroling around the yule log!

The Fort Payne Christmas Parade will be held on Monday, December 9.

The next meeting of the Fort Payne City Council will be held on Tuesday, December 17 at 12pm.
