RAGLAND, Ala. — The Valley Head Tigers defeated the Ragland Purple Devils, 27-14 on Friday night.

Valley Head scored the first points of the night with 5:56 remaining in the first quarter.  The point-after attempt failed, making the score 6-0. Ragland drove down the field for the touchdown with 3:02 remaining in the first quarter.  The point-after attempt was good giving the Purple Devils the 7-6 lead over the Valley Head Tigers.  After touchdowns by Jordan Burt and Bryson Morgan, the Valley Head Tigers closed out the first quarter with the 20-7 advantage.  

The Tigers added their final points of the game before the half.  The Purple Devils scored on a 30-yard touchdown pass, making the final score 27-14 before a rain delay stalled the game.  

Jordan Burt and Bryson Morgan led the Valley Head Tigers for a combination of 243 yards.  Burt had 20 carries for 123 yards and a touchdown. Morgan finished the night with 120 yards and a touchdown.

Valley Head was named the Southern Torch Team of the Week for their outstanding performance in their season opener.  The Tigers will travel to take on the Section Lions on Thursday night.
