BLOUNTSVILLE, Ala.-- The Fyffe Red Devils defeated the J.B. Pennington Tigers, 43-14, in the second round of Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) State Playoffs on Friday night. 

Hunter Machen returned the opening kickoff to mid-field. With only :33 clicked off the clock, Logan Anderson scored from 47 yards out. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful.  

With 10:11 remaining in the second quarter, Kyle Dukes bulldozed his way in from 6 yards out for the Red Devil touchdown. Brody Hicks brought in the two-point conversion to take the 14-0 lead over the Tigers. Anderson galloped in from 10-yards out, with 5:15 remaining in the second quarter. Dukes brought in the two-point conversion. With :08 remaining in the first half, Will Stephens barreled in from 10-yards out. Dukes passed to Austin Mulligan for the two-point conversion, taking the 30-0 lead into the half. 

After a busted play, Dukes stampeded down the field for 60-yards for the Red Devil touchdown, with 4:52 remaining in the third quarter. With :02 remaining in the third, Hicks came crashing in from 4-yards out to take the 43-0 advantage over the Pennington Tigers.

The J.B. Pennington Tigers scored with 7:52 remaining in the game. The Tigers added one more touchdown late in the fourth quarter, making the final score 43-14.

The Fyffe win over J.B. Pennigton tied Russelville’s state record of 10 or more games played consecutively, for eleven straight years. 

Fyffe (10-1) will host Saks (11-1) for an AHSAA State semifinal spot on Friday. This will be the first meeting for the teams.
